playing the next track on playlist

Thu Jan 12, 2006 12:48 pm
Hi all,

I\'ve had a good trawl through these posts and can\'t seem to see anything related, but sorry if this is a well documented problem. I am new to the Linux game, so please be gentle with me!

I\'m using the version that comes bundled with the 64-bit edition of Suse, and amaroK boots OK and plays fine with Helix. However, it won\'t move onto the next track on a playlist - it literally plays one track and stops, as if that was the only track on the list. I also note that the track timer remains at 0.00, and there\'s no equaliser output. The xine engine doesn\'t seem to work, nor does the xmms player.

Any ideas how I can rectify the issue of playing the next track? V. impressed with amaroK, and it\'s easing my transition from XP, but I need to que up my mp3\'s!

I thought about downloading the Gstreamer engine and installing that, but got bogged down in all the dependencies etc, and I\'m not sure if it would resolve the issue. The mp3\'s are stored on a FAT32 partition (converted from NTFS) with rw access within Linux.

Thanks in advance!

David

not much experience with the 64 bit version myself, but you could try upgrading to the latest amarok - lots of bug fixes since the (presume) 1.3.1 that you\'re using. Alternatively you can try the xine engine - the dependencies are easier to meet than gstreamer (just xine-lib iirc)

BTW - this is not a reported problem that I recognize for the helix engine/amarok - and the helix libs are definitely 32bit compiled, so there may be some incompatibility. I believe the xine-engine is known to work in x86_64

Ahhhh...I\'m so relieved...I\'m not the only one with this problem. I too am running 64-Bit SUSE and find Amarok will not play the next track.

I went to install the latest version, but can\'t get past the prompt \"Insert SUSE Linux CD 1\". I upgraded from v9.3 to v10 using a DVD. When I insert my DVD1, it insists on seeing the CD 1 (I assume, and thus can\'t get past it.

I too am having trouble with this. I'm running Gentoo on amd64 with Amarok svn and gstreamer (xine engine skips whenever I use it), and lately at the end of a song, Amarok sometimes just waits. It's still in play mode, as if it were still playing the last second of the song, and I have to tell it to play the next song explicitly.

This does not happen after every track, it seems to get moody.
Any ideas, anyone?
