Gstreamer error with mp3 and m4a

Sun Jan 22, 2006 5:00 pm
I recently download Amarok 1.3.8 and installed it on KDE version 3.5.0-0.4.fc4 using the GStreamer engine. It works great with my collection of .oggs but when one of my friends sent me an m4a of her band\'s recording, I couldn\'t play it. I searched around for a bit and found that I needed the gstreamer-faad plugin. I set up the appropriate yum repositories and installed the plugin (it also happened to install gstreamer-extra-audio or something). I tried to play the file but just got [GStreamer Error]. I told my friend and she sent it to me in mp3 format. I tried to play that as well but got a longer error: [Gstreamer Error] ** gstmad.c(1206): gst_mad_check_caps_reset: /thread/decodebinX/madX: Fail (where the X stands for a number that keeps increasingwith each attempt to play the song)

If anyone has encountered this error before and knows how to fix it or a workarond that will allow me to play mp3/m4as I\'d be very grateful.

In fact, now that I\'ve installed the gstreamer plugin I can\'t get my oggs to play either. I get a gstpad.c error. Can I use a different engine to play the oggs as well as mp3/m4as?

I have the same problem (with the same message). Anyone has a solution?

Bye, David
