I always lose my Database

Mon Jan 30, 2006 5:11 pm
Hello Guys,
there is a problem that drives me really nuts.
:pinch:

It suddenly appeared yesterday while I was renewing my ID3 Tags and the physical structure of my mp3-Collection, the folders and so on.
I became really annoyed about a bug in the Version 1.3.4 which I was using until yesterday, then I tried to get the latest SVN, but during the compiling process there occured some problems and so I decided to get the actual 1.3.7 - and later - the 1.3.8 Version of AmaroK.

So far. That what me really gets angry is that AmaroK seems to lose or delete the whole Database (doesn\'t matter if SQLite ot MYSql) every 2 hours.

It occurs at many points: Sometimes I was editing the Album Cover, next Time during startup and then (mostly) while editing any ID3-Tag.

Does somebody have an idea about this? I love AmaroK, but it loses a lot of usability and performance when I can\'t use this DB-Feature.

By the Way: I\'m using XINE, but I really don\'t know if this is a problem coming from the Sond-Engine...

Greetz,
Andreas

Same problem here. That\'s really annoying, \'cause everytime the collection crashes and is rescanned, ratings and track counts are lost.

I also tried both SQLite and MySQL, amaroK 1.3.8 and xine.

Any idea?

I have the same or very similar problem running amarok 1.4.0 at debian.

Amarok works fine, but when I leave it running for a few hours and then return it just can't play anything, because the whole collection is wiped.
The next time I try to run it, it's just building a new collection.

debian does not have a package for the updated version of amarok (1.4.0a) which fixes this bug.
Your only option is to delete ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection.db if you're using sqlite or dropping and re-creating your db if you use mysql.

You will probably also need to delete ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

NOTE: Yes, you will lose all your stats.
As long as you do not delete the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers directory then your album covers will remain intact.

I have the same problem.
amaroK just stops playing songs all of a sudden if I leave it on for a couple of hours, and the database is empty.
I have tried removing both ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection.db and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc, but this didn't help.

update - debian packages are now available for 1.4.0a.
