i upgraded to KDE 3.5.1 today (used 3.5.0 sofar) and now amarok is unable to connect to my mysqlbase. yes, i re-emerged amarok (1.3.8, btw) but this didnt help at all :woohoo:
calling amarokapp from commandline i see no errors. if amarok starts, my collection is empty and i see this: MySQL hat den folgenden Fehler ausgegeben: Can\'t connect to local MySQL server through socket \'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld-500.sock\' (2) MySQL kann im Abschnitt Sammlung unter Einstellungen->amaroK einrichten ... eingerichtet werden. hmm (sorry for the german language, though..) for sure mysql is running, and the socket is rw to everyone. using webmin i am able to read/modify the mysql database fine without problems. i am at a little loss here right now. any hints? |

OK, i edited /etc/mysql/my.cnf, and changed the socked name, amarok is happy now.
though.. i wonder why this happened? amarok was happy sofar with mysqld.sock. something wrong with KDE 3.5.1 ? does amaroK get the mysql config from KDE? if so, that would explain this behaviour - and there is a problem with KDE 3.5.1 (well, not a real problem, though..) i cant tell for sure, because amaroK is the only KDE application using mysql on my workstation.
