Can\'t solve this one - getting clipping interferance of playback caused by other processes running in background - eg when browsing pages in Firefox or even when browsing files in amaroK itself. I am running 1.3.8 with the latest xine engine via ALSA (all versions tried - with multiple variations of decoder libs etc..) xorg 6.9 , kernel 2.6.14.3, KDE 3.5.0.1 (g-streamer has never functioned on my system). I would *guess* this may be a GTK issue? XMMS plays mp3 etc. without issue.
Any ideas on solving this one would be great - would be nice to use this great player! Cheers, A |

The clipping is only in xine engine? What about arts? And also tell us more about your sound system, (soundcard, drivers) and your xine engine config. Clipping might be produced if xine engine plays software not directly to the soundcard. Give me more info so I would be able to give a better answer.

OK - thinks i got it licked finally! - In xine - i configured the audio settings to use arts instead of alsa - adios clipping!

Well - almost licked - after listening for a while there is still some audiable clipping/clicking occuring when the cpu is crunching some 1/0\'s - but its a lot less than before.
Still \'lags\' when opening windows or other apps and even its own windows - a long way to go before it can be called low-latency.... A friend suggests it is to do with X having too high a priority - nice level of -10... A |
