Download Scripts & Privileges

Sun Feb 19, 2006 5:39 pm
Hello everyone,

I am having a strange problem. Scripts I download (transcode), I cannot run. The error \"The script \'transcode\' exited with error code 255\" occurs. This is the same case for other scripts too (streamripper, lyriki...)

When I run amarok as root, downloaded scripts work fine. So I am thinking it must be a privileges problem. I do no t want to run amarok as root, but as a user instead.

amarok %U where the user is \'Geoff\'

Geoff@linux:~> id
uid=1000(Geoff) gid=100(users) groups=0(root),10(wheel),16(dialout),33(video),100(users)

I have adjusted some privleges, but with no success. Amarok is (root, root) and transcode script is (Geoff, users)

If someone could give me some advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

What are your script settings? And why are mine not working? What should I change?

Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Alright,

For future reference, a solution to this problem is to copy the script from

/home/User/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts (where amarok downloaded it)

to

/opt/kde3/share/apps/amarok/scripts

This will give amaroK proper access privileges.

Best Regards,
Geoff
