I use amaroK at home and at work. Both machines are running KDE 3.5.

Recently on my home machine amaroK can\'t retrieve song information from MusicBrainz anymore. Even though it can get covers from amazon.com.

My machine in work is fine so I know it can\'t be a problem with the MusicBrainz service.

This used to work fine and I didn\'t change anything that I am aware of on this machine in ages. Just stopped working yesterday.

I have tried reinstalling amaroK but it makes no difference. (I\'m using version 1.3.8)

Any help is appreciated.

Why it is no developer or member of this forum has not replied yet, I cannot explain. Here is the answer - amaroK is not coded to work with the newest libtunepimp. You may have hoarked your machine by updating libmusicbrainz. My advice....update all, then compile and install the 1.4 beta - all works, and works well.
I enjoy amaroK primarily due to what it can do that other players cannot do, all in one. When MusicBrainz got hoarked, it was frustrating to me as well - but a 320Gig HD and a 1.4 beta compiled amarok later, I am all good.
If you don\'t want to compile, search the forum here for the \'unhoarked\' libs for amarok. That version won\'t display lyrics, but at least MusicBrainz works. My advice for the money - compile the beta!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response anthrem. The info you gave was very useful and got me thinking that I had updated my version of libmusicbrainz/libtunepimp a while ago and probably hadn\'t tried looking up tags since.

So I reinstalled the older versions but still no joy. However I then noticed in YaST another libmusicbrainz package appeared libtunepimp-mad.

So it looks like when I upgraded my libtunepimp-mad was out of date and was no longer used. Now that I have rolled back and reinstalled libtunepimp-mad.everything is fine.

Thanks for the help
