On-the-fly transcoding... how does it work?

OK, so I got transcode-0.4 patched with transcode-0.4-mediadevice.diff, compiled, installed and running in amaroK 1.4 beta1, but it\'s still not working. amaroK still whines when I attempt to upload FLACs to my iPod, and I have checked the \"transcode before transferring to device\" option. I don\'t see any other option anywhere so I\'m stuck. Any help? Am I the only one who needs on-the-fly transcoding?

Okay I found out how: you need to put a file ending with .spec in transcode\'s directory, containing:
[code:1]name=transcode
type=transcode[/code:1]
Still a bit dodgy but so far so good.
