controlling amarok through commands

Thu Mar 02, 2006 6:00 pm
I want to be able to control amarok with the \"special keys\" on my keyboard using the hotkeys program. Hotkeys is programmed by default to use xmms. I hate xmms. this is what the hotkeys conf looks like [code:1]# PrevTrack=xmms --rew
# Play=xmms --play-pause
# Stop=xmms --stop
# Pause=xmms --pause
# NextTrack=xmms --fwd
# Rewind=
[/code:1] well the relevant section. obviously I have it comented right now. is it possible to control amarok this way? also I want to know if I can run quit amarok (not kill) through a command so I can put it in an exit script. so I don\'t have to click quit amarok before exiting my wm.

amaroK can be controlled by dcop.

For example, from the command line, type dcop amarok player stop
or dcop amarok player play

for a full list, type dcop amarok player

thank you. I I found it on the wiki. when I made an inquery on gentoo\'s forum\'s no answer ever presented itself so I thought I\'d check here. simple enough I think. I\'ll try it.

I\'ve been going through the list. I don\'t see a command that would allow me to \"quit\" the program. Am I missing something is there another way?

dcop amarok MainApplication-Interface quit
(\'dcop amarok\' is your friend to find things like this)
