Bug in VFAT device handling?

Tue Mar 07, 2006 11:31 am
Hi all,

I just installed 1.4b2 and found that the vfat device handling has improved (grouping now works for me). But I think there is some problem in the device handling:

If I connect to the mounted device, everything works as expected.
If I connect to an unmounted device, I get the message that I have to mount it first.

But if I now use the pre-connect command to mount my device prior to connection (per \"pmount %d\", this works, I can see it with the storage media applet), amarok still claims that the device is unmounted. If I don\'t do anything now, but just press connect again, the device gets connected. Also, a timeout of 5seconds (\"pmount %d && sleep 5s\") does not work. Perhaps the mount status is checked before the pre-connect command is run (defeating the purpose)?

Thanks for this great program to everyone involved!
Bye,

Joost

Also, I think it would be an improvement if the files would not be renamed ( I have all of them named like \"01 - this song.mp3\", as every mp3 player I ever used played them in sorted order) and the grouping would be remembered between transfers. In addition, one transfer window popup instead of one for every song would be comfortable, as every new window gets the focus.

Bye & thanks for your efforts,

And another request: please allow us to specify the music directory on the media device. Currently it copies to the root of the device only. It would be nice if device config not only specified the rename layout but also a starting directory. This allows better organisation on my Rockbox iPod ;-)
