I can\'t get the gstreamer 10 and xine engine to work and unfortunately those are the only ones available (where is ARTS?!?). When I try xine it gives me an error \"xine was unable to initialize any audio-drivers.\" and switches me to gstreamer. When gstreamer is loaded it won\'t play any media (or at least ogg and mp3) and doesn\'t have any ouput plugin options. I have gstreamer 0.10.3 and xine-lib 1.1.1-r4 installed on gentoo. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix for this?
btw I don\'t think this happened with beta 1 |

Hi,
I have 1.4b2 working on gentoo (only that internet streams crash amarok with gst 0.10). You need appropriate gstreamer plugins (gst-*) , eg alsa or oss for audio output, mad for mp3, ogg for ogg-vorbis. Check with \"emerge -s gst-\". Good luck, Joost btw, arts-engine has been removed (see the changelog) |

I had them installed however they were using the 0.8 slot and didn\'t upgrade to the .10 slot (even though gstreamer .10 was installed) so I just manually upgraded them. However it keeps giving me other problems now though (usually right after starting a track). Oh well, guess thats why its beta. I will try to report most of the bugs I find. Thanks

The GST-0.10 engine is NOT yet recommended for normal use. It\'s experimental and missing many features.
We highly recommend to use xine or Helix.

xine seems to be working but its almost as buggy as gstreamer and although I have realplayer installed it doesn\'t let me choose the helix engine.
Hmm when I turn off moodbars it works fine. I guess it doesn\'t like calculating 800+ moodbars I will try to debug it further and try to fix it but I have never done this before so any suggestions would be appreciated. Post edited by: CptnObvious999, at: 2006/03/08 17:16 |
