Hi,
I use amarok 1.3.8 on ubuntu linux, have been using it for some time with no problems. Suddenly it now crashes when I start it... it generally starts, it says \"running multiple background tasks,\" but freezes... after that it cannot be restarted. It does run correctly if run under other user accounts, so it seems the problem is in my local configuration or database perhaps? How can I fix this? Note - I use the mysql database backend. Thank you |

Yeah, it could be your datasbase. Try to delete(move/rename) the collection.db (~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/)
Good luck.

If I delete the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ directory, what will happen to my ratings, album covers, etc? I don\'t want to lose them.

Yeah, they\'ll disappear. THat\'s why advice is to move it somewhere else.

Thanks for helping me Mogger.
I renamed the .kde/share/apps/amarok directory, and I also had to rename the .kde/share/config/amorkrc file. This enabled me to restart amarok and rebuild my collection. I would like to be able to restore my album covers and ratings now, though. I have the old mysql database backed up. Do I just need to restore the old amazon/images/statistics tables, or do I need to do something else? |
