Hi guys.
I\'ve just installed amaroK 1.4_beta3 in my Gentoo system. And I\'m trying to make it work. Thanks ! |

which version did you run prior to 1.4 beta3? if not beta2, try moveing the config files away and see if that works out.
1.4 beta3 runs fine here on x86 and amd64 gentoo. |

Hi there!
I\'ve had the same problem: crash on startup. Solution: There was a stale rss-file in my podcast directory .kde/share/apps/amarok/podcasts Deleting that finally brought up amarok. I love the new beta... thank you guys. The only annoyance: It has deleted all the playcounts. Good night and good luck... Kai |

hi there,
almost the same problem, amarok-1.4.0a-r1 crashes with SIGSEGV at startup, and no backtrace available. i'm using gentoo (i noticed that gentoo and amarok don't like each other), with kde 3.5.2, and i guess kernel is 2.6.14, or 16? nevermind, i also noticed that a progress bar pops up, god knows why.. in the directory above, i only got "playlistbrowser_save.xml", so should i erase that? and what about xinerama and mysql use options? i re-emerged amarok about 10 times, using different use flag combinations, any ideas? btw, i'm not a linux pro, just a mediocre/intermediate user :] i hate xmms, so pleease help me thanks in advance. (amarok, you little lovely ****! can't live with you can't live without you ) |

First try to reemerge taglib. If that doesn't help, rebuild amarok with the debug use flag, and start it from the shell. Paste the debug output. PS: Usually Amarok works great with Gentoo.

also try deleting or moving ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

I also get this error... deleting ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc didn't help, and neither did deleting the whole ~/.kde/share/apps/config either. I am running Slackware 10.2 with kde 3.5.3, and I installed the official amarok 1.4.0a package from slackware-current. backtrace is invalid. any help?
