can\'t build collection (1.4-beta3)

Wed Apr 12, 2006 1:09 am
Hi all!

I\'ve downloaded and built beta 3, but I seem to be unable to create a collection.

My home is on an NFS-mounted directory, but I have tried both linking the .kde/.... and using mysql. I have also tried running amaroK as root, to be sure that there are no permission-problems and to get the sqlite database on a local drive... However nothing I do appears to help!

My music is usually on an NFS directory, but I have also tried to copy the files to a local directory. This didn\'t help either...

The progress bar shows for like two seconds when I choose to rescan the collection, but it is stuck at 0% for the whole time. two seconds later the bar dissapears but the \'Building collection database\'-tab is still there and doesn\'t go away.

This is the output I receive when trying to do a rescan (SQLite and local home directory):
[code:1]
amarok: [ContextBrowser] Rendering showCurrentTrack()
amarok: BEGIN: ScanController::«»ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QString List&«»)
amarok: END__: ScanController::«»ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QString List&«») - Took 0.0039s
amarok: BEGIN: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run()
amarok: BEGIN: virtual bool ScanController::doJob()
amarok: BEGIN: SqliteConnection::«»SqliteConnection(SqliteConfig*)
amarok: END__: SqliteConnection::«»SqliteConnection(SqliteConfig*) - Took 0.00 046s
amarok: BEGIN: void CollectionDB::createTables(bool)
amarok: END__: void CollectionDB::createTables(bool) - Took 0.0065s
amarok: [KDE::«»ProgressBar::«»ProgressBar(QWidget*, QLabel*)]
amarok: BEGIN: void CollectionDB::copyTempTables()
amarok: END__: void CollectionDB::copyTempTables() - Took 0.0023s
amarok: END__: virtual bool ScanController::doJob() - Took 2.3s
amarok: [CollectionDB] JobFinishedEvent from ScanController received.
amarok: [ContextBrowser] Rendering showCurrentTrack()
amarok: current browser is not collection, aborting renderView()
amarok: [ThreadWeaver] Job completed: CollectionScanner. Jobs pending: 0
amarok: BEGIN: virtual ScanController::~ScanController()
amarok: END__: virtual ScanController::~ScanController() - Took 6.5e-05s
amarok: [virtual KDE::«»ProgressBar::~ProgressBar()]
amarok: END__: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run() - Took 2.3s
[/code:1]

I hope someone can help me with this, since this appears like just the program I\'ve been looking for!

I see the exact same problem.

The amarok collection scanner hangs on the first mp3 file is tries to scan, and that\'s it.

No errors, nothing, it just hangs.

It doesn\'t matter which file, so it isn\'t a broken mp3 or anything like that.

and Your compiler is GCC 4.1.0?

No, I am using GCC 3.3.6 but I can\'t find anything about amaroK requiring a newer version. Does it?

In the end I gave up and compiled 1.3.9 and I am very happy with it so far.

Annoyed,

Did you have a point in asking about the compiler?

Your reply doesn\'t contain enough information to know what you mean.
