I can listen to a music file which is on my pc with amaroK. When I try to listen  to a stream (one of the ones amaroK suggest) i hear nothing.

Using vlc to listen to the webradio works.
e.g.
vlc http://64.236.34.4:5190/stream/1003

I suppose you're using an engine that doesn't support streaming. Most likely the GStreamer-0.10 engine in amaroK 1.4, which isn't completed.

Use the xine engine instead, it handles streaming fine.
