How do I get automatic transcoding to work?

I have transkode 0.5 installed and running. All the programs for the formats I have are installed. My media device options are set to transcode before transferring to device (I have tried with both whenever possible and when necessary options). However when I put a file that is not an mp3 in my transfer queue there is no action. It just sits there regardless of how long I leave it.

When I click cancel on the transfer dialogue it says file ******.flac not playable on media device.

How do I get it to work? I can manually transcode using the same script but it is an annoying and time consuming process.

Any advice would be appreciated.
