I'm able to play Mp3 and other files I've ripped and able to listen (using XMMS and audacious) to remote streams such as Radio Paradise. However, when I attempt to attach to Radio Paradise or any other stream, it adds three or four entries to the playlist, then indicates it's connecting to the stream but never reaches the buffering or play stage. I'd be glad to do whatever would help diagnose the problem- any hints?

I suppose you're using an engine that doesn't support streaming. Most likely the GStreamer-0.10 engine in amaroK 1.4, which isn't completed.
Use the xine engine instead, it handles streaming fine.

Hi! I get the exact same thing using Ubuntu dapper beta and amarok 1.4b3. The xine engine does work but seems kinda choppy, so I'd like to go back to gstreamer. Now, amarok-gstreamer doesn't give an option to choose the version of gstreamer and selects 0.10 by defalut. Is there a way I can avoid this, and keep using gstreamer 0.8? I mean, apart from compiling amarok...

gstreamer 0.8 is no longer part of amaroK for version 1.4.
I am afraid, you have to switch to xine or wait till the devs finish their work with gstreamer 0.10. |

ok. thanks. I'll search for some xine magic then, to solve this.
