Configuring xine-lib

Wed May 17, 2006 11:11 am
Hello everybody.

I have the problem that my volume is set to 0 with the beginning of every new track. I already know that this is a problem with the helix engine. I would like to use the xine engine again, but unfortunately at the moment I don't know how.

I am using Suse 10.0 and installed amarok from rpm. Because I had a problem with some codecs, I had to remove xine-lib and also the xine-plugin for amarok. I built xine-lib from source which solved my codec-problems, but now the only audio-engine, which I can choose in amarok, is helix. When I try to install the rpm for the amarok xine-plugin again, yast still wants to install xine-lib from rpm again.

Does anybody know, what to do? Can I configure amarok so it finds the compiled xine-lib? Do I need to compile the amarok-plugin for xine? Where can I get it? I hope, I provided all information which could be important for a solution. Thanks a lot in advance.

Bye,
Patrick

Hmm, there's no way in just building the xine-plugin (as far as I know). But I guess you can force to install the amarok-xine-plugin rpm evenif not all dependencies are fullfilled (download the rpm, read man rpm to find out how to force it).
Another possibility is to also build amarok by hand...

Hey, that worked. How easy ... I should have tried that before ;-)
Thanks a lot!
