Library Problem

Thu May 18, 2006 12:24 pm
I'm running amaroK in Kubuntu 5.10, and have run into a bit of a problem with the Collection tab. The tab shows all my artists, and at the bottom lists the number of tracks and artists it contains, but none of the tracks show up. I click the button to expand an artist but it doesn't show anything for any of the bands.

I thought at first this was because it didn't support the file types, so spent a while trying to get the right codecs working and what not (probably not sorted that fully yet), but just now realised if I go "Play Media" and select the tracks they play fine, yet still don't show in the Collection tab.

My thoughts are it may still be a filetype/support/codec issue, or maybe a database issue? (I have it set to SQLite if that's the case).

Any suggestions much appreciated, thanks!

Hi,
i have the same problem (ArchLinux, SQLite 3.3.5). And when I try to rebuild the collection I get:
...
BEGIN: void CollectionDB::copyTempTables()
amarok:      [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] [virtual int SqliteConnection::insert(const QString&, const QString&)]  sqlite3_compile error:
amarok:      [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] table tags has 15 columns but 19 values were supplied
amarok:      [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] on insert: INSERT INTO tags SELECT * FROM tags_temp;
...

(So there is nothing shown in my collection now). So is this sqlite bug?

I have a similar problem. I've just updated to 1.4 from 1.3.9 on my AMD 64. I am using SourceMage (www.sourcemage.org). My collection now is empty, and what I get at the end of the collection scanning is this:

amarok:    BEGIN: void CollectionDB::copyTempTables()
amarok:    END__: void CollectionDB::copyTempTables() - Took 0.14s
amarok:  END__: virtual bool ScanController::doJob() - Took 3.3e+02s
amarok: END__: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run() - Took 3.3e+02s
amarok: [CollectionDB] JobFinishedEvent from ScanController received.
amarok: [ContextBrowser] current browser is not context, aborting showCurrentTrack()
amarok: BEGIN: void CollectionView::renderView(bool)
amarok: END__: void CollectionView::renderView(bool) - Took 0.023s
amarok: [ThreadWeaver] Job completed: CollectionScanner. Jobs pending: 0
amarok: BEGIN: virtual ScanController::~ScanController()
amarok: END__: virtual ScanController::~ScanController() - Took 0.0002s
amarok: [virtual KDE::ProgressBar::~ProgressBar()]
amarok: [ContextBrowser] current browser is not context, aborting showCurrentTrack()
amarok: BEGIN: ScanController::ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QStringList&)
amarok:  BEGIN: void ScanController::initIncremental()
amarok:  END__: void ScanController::initIncremental() - Took 0.62s
amarok: END__: ScanController::ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QStringList&) - Took 0.62s
amarok: BEGIN: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run()
amarok:  BEGIN: virtual bool ScanController::doJob()
amarok:  END__: virtual bool ScanController::doJob() - Took 6.9e-05s
amarok:  [CollectionDB] JobFinishedEvent from Incremental ScanController received.
amarok:  [ContextBrowser] current browser is not context, aborting showCurrentTrack()
amarok:  [ThreadWeaver] Job completed: CollectionScanner. Jobs pending: 0
amarok:  BEGIN: virtual ScanController::~ScanController()
amarok:  END__: virtual ScanController::~ScanController() - Took 0.0001s
amarok: END__: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run() - Took 0.0068s
amarok: [ContextBrowser] current browser is not context, aborting showCurrentTrack()
amarok: BEGIN: ScanController::ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QStringList&)
amarok:  BEGIN: void ScanController::initIncremental()
amarok:  END__: void ScanController::initIncremental() - Took 0.041s
amarok: END__: ScanController::ScanController(CollectionDB*, bool, const QStringList&) - Took 0.042s
amarok: BEGIN: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run()
amarok:  BEGIN: virtual bool ScanController::doJob()
amarok:  END__: virtual bool ScanController::doJob() - Took 6.9e-05s
amarok:  [CollectionDB] JobFinishedEvent from Incremental ScanController received.
amarok:  [ContextBrowser] current browser is not context, aborting showCurrentTrack()
amarok:  [ThreadWeaver] Job completed: CollectionScanner. Jobs pending: 0
amarok:  BEGIN: virtual ScanController::~ScanController()
amarok:  END__: virtual ScanController::~ScanController() - Took 0.0001s
amarok: END__: virtual void ThreadWeaver::Thread::run() - Took 0.007s

Before that I have a few "amarok:    [CollectionDB] Detected compilation: "(compilation name), for the compilations I have on my collection. But my collection now stays always empty. No mather if I use mysql or sqlite to store it.
It has always worked well with previous versions (including 1.3.9).
Any ideas?

Yeah I have the same problem here as well.  Then I told it to rebuild the collection and now there is nothing at all.  :confused:

I went on the IRC channel and someone was able to help me fix the problem.  First, make sure that you have upgraded to the newest version 1.40a, then go to ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ and delete the file(s) labelled collection.db  Solved the problem for me.

Unbfortunately that didn't work for me. I've went as far as removing ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ and still can't play.

http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/t ... 257.0.html

That did it for me. Give that a try.
