I have had problems getting my ipod to work with amarok. I am running version 1.4 in gentoo with libgpod version 0.3.2.
I have the ipod device plugin, amarok detects the device, but when I go to mount it I get "Media Device: No mounted iPod found" My ipod is mounted at /mnt/ipod (I have also tried adding a link to /media/ipod) and I have configured amarok for it to look for the Ipod at /mnt/ipod. gtkpod seems to work just fine. Any thoughts? Thanks jason |

I have the same type of problem.
I use autofs in mounting my iPod, mount point is /mnt/iPod. This used to work in the previous version of amarok, but not anymore. I can transfer files through Generig Audio Player (not playable of course). The error message for iPod is "Media Device: No mounted iPod found" . Any idea would be helpful. Thanks in advance Glen_f |

Are you sure your iPod is moutable by the user? Make sure that "user" is one of the options for your iPod in /etc/fstab.
Other than that... I used to get the same error in amaroK-1.3.8 until I initialised my iPod with gtkpod, but amaroK-1.4 does its own initialisation now. If you're sure you're using the latest release then I don't think that can be the problem.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I'm using the latest amarok on my Debian Sid. And I don't use fstab on mounting iPod. I use autofs and udev combination. Mainly because I'm the "nerd" of our house, and my wife isn't. And the iPod is hers. And I use WindowMaker. I tried with gtkpod/gnupod and songs went in and got out as they should. Still amarok doesn't connect to iPod. The error is the same. Does amarok try to mount the iPod? For me it doesn't have to do that, because it's being taken care of already. Amarok can still connect to iPod through the Generic Audio Device. Thanks Glen_f |

Ah, OK. I can usually help with general Linux issues but I don't know the workings of amaroK. Hopefully someone who does will notice this thread...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

My ipod is user mountable and works just fine using gtkpod. Still have had no success using amarok to "connect" to the ipod. Strange since it seems to detect the device when it is plugged in. When amarok tries to "connect" does it do anything more than look for the proper ipod/itunes filesystem structure at the designated mount point?

Still have had no success with amarok and my ipod. Can someone confirm for me that ipod video's can work with amarok? I know that video is not supported, but I'm running out of ideas here. My ipod works with gtkpod, it works with itunes on my windoze machine, and it works using ipodslave in konq. The only place it seems to fail is amarok.
Would love some advice jason |
