After cleaning ~/kde/share/apps/amarok and setting amarok to use sqlite instead of sql, now I can see my mp collection once again. But if I try to play anything, amarok dies, and this is the backtrace it tries to send via email:
======== DEBUG INFORMATION ======= Version: 1.4.0 Engine: xine-engine Build date: May 20 2006 CC version: 4.0.3 KDElibs: 3.5.2 TagLib: 1.4.0 ==== file `which amarokapp` ======= /usr/bin/amarokapp: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.0, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.0, stripped ==== (gdb) bt ===================== Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". 0x00002af14a80d1a6 in select () from /lib/libc.so.6 #0 0x00002af14a80d1a6 in select () from /lib/libc.so.6 #0 0x00002af14a80d1a6 in select () from /lib/libc.so.6 No symbol table info available. ==== (gdb) thread apply all bt ==== ==== kdBacktrace() ================ [ 0: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4(_Z11kdBacktracei+0x46) [0x2af146aabd96] 1: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.4(_Z11kdBacktracev+0xe) [0x2af146aac04e] 2: amarokapp(_ZN6amaroK5Crash12crashHandlerEi+0xa7f) [0x4061df] 3: /lib/libc.so.6 [0x2af14a7a02b0] 4: /usr/lib/../lib/libxine.so.1(_x_extra_info_reset+0) [0x2aaaab0d9a40] ] --------------- xine-lib is version 1.1.1, and I've already tried rebuilding it and amarok. I just noticed (after removing ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok) that it will play the .ogg welcome track. It just hangs or dies when I try to play my mp3 collection.

Do you have libmad installed?

Yes, I have libmad, version 0.15.1b
I had amarok 1.3.9 working perfectly. Anyway, I'm rebuilding xine-lib and libmad now. We'll see if it helps. |

Still no joy. I get crashes in xine mad plugin if I try to play my mp3 from inside amarok 1.4.0a. But if I play those mp3 in xine, they play perfectly. And, as I said, amarok 1.3.9 played them perfectly.
