Mandriva 1.4 RPM dependency problems

Tue May 23, 2006 12:24 pm
Hello,
  I have been trying to install the mandriva 1.4 RPMs from the download section but there seems to be a dependency issue.  When installing the amarok package it says I need libamarok and amarok-engine, but when trying to install either of those it tells me I need amarok.

Amarok rpm:
Code: Select all
error: Failed dependencies:
        amarok-engine is needed by amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586
        libamarok0 = 1.4.0 is needed by amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586
        libamarok.so.0 is needed by amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586
        amarok = 1.4 is needed by (installed) amarok-engine-xine-1.4-beta2.2.20060gm.i586

amarok-engine-xine rpm:
Code: Select all
error: Failed dependencies:
        amarok = 1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk is needed by amarok-engine-xine-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586

libamaraok rpm:
Code: Select all
error: Failed dependencies:
        amarok = 1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk is needed by libamarok0-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586

I seems to me that they all need each other to be installed, or at least thats what they think.  Is there a way to install them at the same time or do I need to install them differently?  I am just using -uhv right now.  Any help or insight into the matter would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

I'm not sure but try this.

Code: Select all
rpm -Uvh amarok-engine-xine-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm libamarok0-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm

Cheers! :smilie:

After realizing I was logged in as a normal user that code worked perfectly.
Thank you,
