Hello all,
i've been searching the forums and googling for issues with regards to getting album covers onto my 30GB iPOD video under latest amarok 1.4.0. I'm currently running Fedora Core 5 x86_64 edition with the i386 version of amaroK (plus dependancies) using the xine engine. I've tried recreating the playlist, deleting my playlists using a utility called 'easytag' to embed the images into the id3 tags etc. I also tried using an 'embedcover' amaroK script, and that hasn't worked either. The end result is that there are no album covers displayed on my iPOD. amaroK is probably one of the best music players i've tried hands-down, and would be nice to get the album covers syncing correctly to my iPOD. Any help appreciated. I'm running the following:

There were artwork related problems in some libgpod versions on 64 bit systems. I think they were fixed in 0.3.2. To be safe, upgrade your libgpod to current cvs and compile amarok from source.
In general, amaroK should just transfer the artwork that is displayed in the context browser for an album - so no need for adding the covers to id3 tags. |

Thanks for that. FC5 is still using libgpod 0.30 I think (I'm at work so unable to verify the version at home), I thought I would compile lligpod 0.32 fromn source and after I installed it, it would crash amaroK especially playing m4a files and/or when the iPOD is connected Also, it looks as though some album covers are working but others aren't - so the results are quite erratic. Not sure whether it would be worthwhile to completely wipe the iPOD and see whether the covers are properly copied across? |

Okay after backing up my iPod video and creating the playlist/directories on my PC using amaroK, I bit the bullet and used GtkPod to delete the files, playlists directly from the iPOD.
After connecting back to it via amaroK, the album covers transferred perfectly. It looks as though amaroK didn't like the previous itunesDB on there (gtkpod complained about it too with orphaned files and the like). But it now it works perfectly. I'm running amaroK 1.4.0 using KDE 3.5.2-0.2.fc5 on Fedora Core 5 with the following:
I did upgrade my libgpod to the 0.32 build from the FreshRPMS repo. Thanks again Martin for your help. |
