Hi, if I use amarok to tag a genre on a file i can not see it in 'id3v2 -l blah.mp3' or any tag editor like easytag

here is example:

*** Tag information for sapthuran - to the edge of lan 11.mp3
=== TIT2 (Title/songname/content description): III
=== TPE1 (Lead performer(s)/Soloist(s)): Sapthuran
=== TALB (Album/Movie/Show title): To The Edge of Land
=== TYER (Year): 0
=== TRCK (Track number/Position in set): 11
=== COMM (Comments): (ID3v1 Comment)[XXX]: USA
*** mp3 info
MPEG1/layer III
Bitrate: 192KBps
Frequency: 44KHz

but with eyeD3 I get

sapthuran - to the edge of lan 11.mp3  [ 2.25 MB ]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time: 1:38      MPEG1, Layer III        [ 192 kb/s @ 44100 Hz - Joint stereo ]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ID3 v2.4:
title: III              artist: Sapthuran
album: To The Edge of Land              year: None
track: 11              genre: blah genre test(id None)
Comment: [Description: ] [Lang: ]
USA

if i write the genre with any other program i can see it in both eyeD3 and id3v2 -l

track: 11              genre: sadsfasf (id None)

=== TCON (Content type): sadsfasf

is it a bug or simple patch or fix?

there are other posts on here that answer this, but briefly, amaroK uses taglib for id3.
The tags are id3v2.4 (id3lib only does id3v2.3) and can't be recognised by older tagging libraries.

Easytag (for example) is in the process of adding taglib support.

In the meantime, use amarok for all your tagging ;)
