Hello!

I'd like to install Amarok 1.4 on my Mandriva 2006 (KDE) but I've a problem during the installation. These are my installation the steps:

1- Disinstall my old Amarok 1.3
2- Download all the RPM file of the new Amarok
3- So, i've installed the RPM in these order

amarok-engine-xine-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm
amarok-scripts-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm
libgpod-0.3.0-0.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm
libgpod0-0.3.0-0.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm

This is all ok, but now while i try to install libamarok0-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm Mandriva answer to me that "Impossible to install libamarok0-1.4.0 because there is no amarok-[==1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk]".

So I try to install amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm but Mandriva say to me "Impossible to install l amarok-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk.i586.rpm because there is no Mibamarok0[==-1.4.0-1.1.20060mdk]".

So this is a endless circle for me.

Can someone help me? What is my mistake? Many thanks indeed and best regards.

Grazie a tutti!

Hi,
first of all: Why did you install libgpod and then libgpod0?
I don't have mandriva, but aren't these packages equal?
Anyway, seems that the rpms amarok and libamarok0 have circular dependencies.
So you must install libamarok0 with rpm -Uhv --nodeps libamarok0-xxxxx.
Then you should be able to install amarok. Should work the other way round, too.
There's an error in the rpm packages.

Hi again,
I took a look at the libgpod rpms. They are different. Then I've inspected amarok and libamarok0.
It's as I said one's depending on the other. So install them as I said before, but first install libamarok0.
It depends also on libtunepimpxxxx. Should be installed, if you used amarok before. Then install amarok without --nodeps.
Probably there are other dependencies. I saw the libraries for the iriver mp3 player, but not sure. You should do that on console to see what's going on.
