Would be good to have the error message.
Do you have ruby installed (though should be a dependency in the ubuntu packet system)?
With more details about your problem someone could possible help you.

Hi,
as Marcel wrote, you have ruby (which is a scripting language, like perl f. e., often used by amarok scripts) to be installed to run any (all?) lyrics scripts.
It's missing on your system. That's all.
Btw. I'm not happy with these scripts installed with amarok. Scripts should be installed on a per user base. One example: There's a lyrics script preinstalled. If you install the lyriki script, You'll get 2 entries showing Text:Lyrc. And you can't uninstall the "original" script (without being root). So I think no global scripts are better scripts.

Well I agree that bundled scripts have this disadvantage, and some more (e.g. you can't easily upgrade them). But then we can hardly ship Amarok without any default lyrics or scoring scripts. So this is a bit of a dilemma.

First of all, sorry, for redubbing you to Marcel. How about a copying a lyric script to $HOME/bla/amarok/scripts at first start? Or an information in the script window, how to install scripts. The lyriki-lyrics script for example shows a dialog, if there's no script selected.

Hi again,
sudo apt-get install ruby. But perhaps you should visit the Ubuntu forums, because these aren't questions related to amarok.
Check this site for example: http://blog.mypapit.net/2006/05/how-to-install-softwareapplications-in-ubuntu-linux.html or google for Ubuntu forum.
And for your other posting: start amarok. Click Settings --> configure amarok--> Audio Engine or Audio Settings. There you'll find a dropdown field with the engines available. I don't know the correct labels, as I'm not using the english version.

Hi,
xine uses external en/decoders. FFmpeg is able to play m4a files. So if you doesn't have ffmpeg ( or its libraries installed), you won't be able to play m4a files with xine, I think. So I suggest that you install RealPlayer and change engine to helix.
Sorry, but I don't know all the dependencies on an Ubuntu system.
