xine and other trouble

Sat Jun 10, 2006 5:59 pm
Hello,

I've been trying out Kubuntu 6.06 in a VMware guest. I was actually using Arts up to now (xine was a bit weird). Since I uupgraded to 1.4, Arts is broken, so I'm left with Xine. Xine however cannot seem to start now (says it could not start any sound driver).

An other weird thing is that amaroK is now part Greek (one of the languages I had installed for KDE, but removed later). So now, some menu items show in Greek, while others are English.

Any ideas?

Regarding xine: If you have the arts demon running, it will block the sound device. Deactivating the arts sound server will free it and xine can use it.
