I recently upgraded to 1.4....whateva, the newest one is on fedora core 5.  The only sound engine that will come up is Helix.  Personally i hate the damn thing because I can't find anywhere to get mp3, aac, mp4 plugins for it.  If anyone knows where to get those can you let me know...also if you know how to get gstreamer back in the engine i would greatly apreciate it, i have gstreamer and it worked on the beta 3 version, but for some reason i can't get the beta 3 anymore, unless someone has the rpm for that, in which i would take that file.

Thanks

Installing realplayer will get you the non-free codecs for helixplayer.

change the paths on the 'engines' page in settings... these need to point to the realplayer codecs

/usr/local/RealPlayer/plugins
/usr/local/RealPlayer/codecs
/usr/local/RealPlayer/common

Hi,
try rpm -ql name_of_realplayer_package-without-version.or_extension | grep plugins. This will show the files installed by this package.
For example on SuSE it's /usr/lib/RealPlayer10/plugins/

Install amarok-extras-nonfree from http://rpm.livna.org/ to get the xine engine with mp3 capability.
