Hi,
you need to install amarok-helix and amarok-helix-backend from whereever you've got your amarok-1.4.0 rpm. I suggest to install the amarok rpms from here http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/Backports/SUSE_Linux_10.0/i586/ Btw. Recent release is SuSE 10.1 Greetings m0nk

Thanks a lot, worked nicely. I also tried downloading the xine engine. I could not find any back end, and amarok simply skipped through the playlist without making a sound. Never mind. BTW the playback was still stuttering after upgrading, but then i switched sound system from from oss to alsa, and that fixed that problem.
Thanks again for your help. Henrik |

Hi again
if you want a working xine installation, you need the xine packages from here: http://packman.links2linux.de/?action=124. But it has a lot of dependencies. You can find all rpms for full multimedia (lame, ffmpeg, faad, faac, mad, ac52dec etc.) on that site. The xine from SUSE is crippled and isn't able to play mp3 (no mad) or encrypted DVDs (no libdvdcss). It's useless to install it. Greetings m0nk
