Hi forum.
I'm using Debian Sid, amarok 1.4.0. I'm trying to use a podcast (for the first time) and amarok is refusing to add it (it says it returned invalid data). Since this is the first one I've tried to add, it could well be me doing something silly. The podcast I'm adding is linked off of this page: http://londonbikers.com/podcast/ Is this just me being silly, a bug in amarok, or a non-standard podcast? TIA |

Hmm. No takers?
I've done a search of threads on this forum with the word "podcast" in it and it's weird how none of them have any replies. Is the word "podcast" classed as profanity by some firewalls and this isn't getting through to anyone I'd really appreciate any advice. There is very little I've found about what extent Amarok supports podcasts. |

Okay, I'll bite. I don't seem to have any problem with it. The only thing is you have to do is go through to the RSS feeds page and copy the location of the podcast RSS feed (they don't make this overly clear). Then use that copied location to add the podcast in Amarok.

Thanks very much for replying.
I have been in touch with the people who run that podcast and it appears the link they give is some kind of diversion to Apple's podcast page. By doing this diversion, they get a popularity rating. However, it only works when you use iTunes, otherwise you get a dead end. I have persuaded them to give me the URL to the XML file (thanks for tipping me off that I need an XML file, that was the knowledge I was missing), and it now works flawlessly! Podcast support seems to be pretty good in Amarok after all. Thanks. |
