Recently i decided to give the new 1.4.1 beta a try, but i didn't like the new layout, so i decided to return to 1.4.0. Now it  just won't start. There are no error messages. The splashscreen shows and that's it. I tried running it as root and it worked fine, so i renamed my amarok config files in ~/.kde/share/config/ , and all i got was the first run wizard  (i'm not sure how it's called in the english version). Now i'm running the beta again and it's working fine. I'm running gentoo linux.  Did anybody else have this problem? From what I read on this forum, i'm not the only one who downgraded...

There is also the directory ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok. You could try moving it as well, but you will loose covers, stats and other things.
For my own part I decided to try the svn version of amarok that reverted to the old layout and it works well so far. Used the ebuild from here:
http://www.jordswart.org/archives/35
But I don't know how up to date it is, maybe here
http://www.ebuildexchange.org/ebuilds.php
the ebuild is fresher.

Bye, tb.
