Amarok won't start

Mon Jul 10, 2006 4:53 pm
I downloaded the 1.4.1 tarball from this site, and compiled it as per the instructions in the README. It didn't produce any errors but I can't seem to start the actual program. It doesn't launch with katapult saying "Service '/usr/share/applications/kde/amarok.desktop' is malformatted." and nothing happens when I click on the launcher in the taskbar. help!

Hi,
first of all and always:
Some infos about distro and kde version would be helpfull!
Now, have you tried to start amarok from console? Any output?

Greetings

I didn't start this thread but I'm having the same problem on SuSE 9.3 w/ Amarok 1.4. I think it was happening with the original version of amarok but I upgraded hoping to fix the problem. No such luck.

Heres the output from console:

Code: Select all
Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
QLayout: Adding KToolBar/mainToolBar (child of QVBox/unnamed) to layout for PlaylistWindow/PlaylistWindow
#> amarokapp: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde3/lib/libamarok.so.0: undefined symbol: _ZN6TagLib7FileRef19addFileTypeResolverEPKNS0_16FileTypeResolverE

Any ideas? I loved using this program and would like to get it back up and running.
Thanks!

Probably means it's linked to an own old taglib version, 1.3. Remove that.
