I just upgraded to the latest SVN version of Amarok and it decided to rescan my whole collection. The result being that as far a Amarok is concerned, none of my albums have cover images.
My MP3 are organised into separate directories for each album, with a folder.jpg file for the cover image. Running "SELECT * from images;" im mysql shows that all the cover images have been found, but for some reason Amarok is not managing to associate these with the files. Is this a known issue in SVN, or is folder.jpg no longer a suitable name? Cheers Iain. |

I don't have an answer, but the same thing happened when I upgraded from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2. All my cover images are gone from Amarok, but all my folder.jpg files are still in each album directory.

"Me too"
I doesn't bother me if have to fix this manually but... if someone could suggest a way that I don't have to go through and right click on 800 albums covers I'd be most appreciative ![]() |

Did you get all your covers using the Cover Manager? If so, that's different from what I describe. I used albumart-qt to download album covers to the album directory, and named each image "folder.jpg." Previous versions of Amarok used these images without a hitch. Normally, when you use the Cover Manager, it downloads the images to the amarok directory in your Home folder. |

No, 99% of my covers are in the album directory the same as you. They aren't all named folder.jpg but as you say previous versions handled this without a problem. Cheers to the pointer to albumart-qt though, I hadn't seen it before. hads |

Another suggestion could be to move the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/ directory and see whether the covers in the music directories are picked up on a rescan. Iirc, if there's an existing cached cover (regardless of source) in there, covers won't be picked up.

I just tried moving the albumcovers directory out of the way. I shut down Amarok, restarted it and then opened the cover manager to have a look. It did it's 'Loading Icons' thing and showed a few covers.
`ls -l ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/albumcovers/cache | wc -l` shows 68 files out of around 800 album directories which have a mixture of PNG and JPG cover files. There doesn't appear to be a pattern to the covers which did get loaded. Cheers for the idea. |

I upgraded from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 and all of my CD covers are no longer displaying in the context tab or on dragging and dropping into the playlist.
I'm running Ubuntu 6.06LTS, and used the following source (/etc/apt/sources.list): deb http://imbrandon.com/packages dapper amarok deb-src http://imbrandon.com/packages dapper amarok It should be noted I used a different source to install amarok 1.4.1 (deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/amarok-141 dapper main), as the official repos. are only up to 1.3.9. I've tried deleting ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and the amarokrc file and then rebuilding the database, using fresh settings, to no avail. Lastly, I'm using MySQL 5.0.23 as the database (I also tried setting up a fresh MySQL db, again to no avail). Any thoughts? Is this a bug - or should I COMPLETELY remove every trace of the old install and try again? I have manually reinstalled the covers by 'use custom cover' in Cover Manager - but I'd hate to do that for 1200 albums again!

Well, 1.3.9 and 1.4.1 (the official J Riddell Dapper package) work using MySQL 4 or 5, but 1.4.2 doesn't show album covers no matter the database or setting.
As a thought - my music is all 'read only' as only root is the group and owner - could this be a factor?? Looks like I'm sticking with 1.4.1 for now ![]()
