I'm running 1.41 under gnome and it loses files in the playlist, it says the local file does not exist, even though I can find and play the file in the "all collection" part of the playlist. Not good, Amarok is currently useless to me and I'll have to find something I can use. I really love the interface, but I need my playlists, and also it's very slow on my system. I'm sure it would run better on KDE, but whatever...

The problem is Amarok moves files around in my music directory and is too stupid to know that the files have been moved. Why does it move my files? I had them organized now it has created new folders and made my music directory a complete mess.

Well I've tried all the other Linux players and the interfaces just aren't as good as Amarok. Why does Amarok move my files around and create directories? For instance, I had a compilation that I put in it's own folder but Amarok reorganized it by artist name, not the album, so I have all these differnent artist directories with one song in each, it's whack, I don't see the logic in making a mess of my music folder.

what it means is, you used the default settings in the 'organize files' dialogue.
The dialogue previews the path it's going to move the files to. If you click 'details' on that dialogue, you're given more options, like checking 'Custom Format', which allows you to change the format of the path/filename to one you desire.

Oh, and the playlist losing track of itself is an issue that ATF addresses - check the amarok settings to find out more.
