Amarok lost its library

Tue Aug 08, 2006 10:10 pm
Hi, I am having my mp3s on a samba share. Just today I have started Amarok just to learn that it has to rebuild the library.

When I have started it the very first time today, samba share was not mounted yet. So I shut down Amarok, mounted the share and restarted Amarok.  So may the absence of the  mounted samba share be the reason why Amarok has erased (dropped) its current library?

Anyways I think this is totally overkill, Amarok should refuse to play a song if the file system is not reachable, but why dropping the library altogether?

Disable the automatic rescan of your collection in the configuration. Hopefully this helps.

This issue should be resolved by the dynamic collection feature of amarok 1.4.2.
