My amarok v1.4.1 doesn't play mp3 and wants to install "mp3 support". But nothing happened. I have changed the rights of the mp3-support script to executable, but it made no difference. It plays other media format(ogg etc). In former times mp3 were no problem, too.

When i start amarok with "sudo amarok" it plays mp3 !
How can i solve this problem and use amarok as user again?

Thanks in advance!

PS.:I use Dapper

Have you checked in Synaptic (or other packet manager) that you have installed libxine1c2 and libxine-extracodecs?

Thanks for your answer.
I've checked the libs and they are already installed. And the curious thing is that i can use amarok as i used to be, when i start it with "sudo amarok" in the terminal.  Is there a reason not to start amarok with sudo?

No I don't think it should be a problem to run amarok with sudo.

You could also try the Windows-trick: reinstall.  :p
