I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but this is the problem I get when attempting to rip and encode my cd's with amarok.
The version is irrelevant, I think - I began with 1.41 and am now compiling from subversion. I'm using Gentoo and everything compiles fine.
However according to the FAQ -----
"How can I rip/encode Audio-CDs with Amarok?

Insert your CD, then click on "Play Audio CD" in the menu. The File-Browser will come up and show a tree with several folders. For normal ripping, go to the "wav" folder, select some tracks and drag them to the desired destination in a Konqueror window. For automatic encoding, drag files from the "mp3" or "ogg" folder instead.
"

Except The file browser doesn't show. All I get is a list of the files in the right hand pane (with correect labels from CDDB).
What am I missing?

What happens if you click on the 'Files" browser? Is it showing the CD?

What about if you browse to audiocd:/ ?

It may be the FAQ requires updating.

If I click on the Files tab, I get a normal directory listing with no effect on the right hand playlist panel.
Browsing to /cdrom or amywhere else my cd might be mounted does not show anything...
Incidentally, choosing Play - Media from the Engage menu does give me - media:/hdc/ with the various encodings etc. but selecting them does nothing...
