Sorry to bother everyone again, but since installing Amarok I've noticed an app that seems to run on a regular basis.. it causes my display to lag for a few seconds while it runs, and opens a taskbar item named "Lanching HTTP Cache Cleaner".. a few seconds later the taskbar item disappears and this goes away.
My understanding is that this has to do with running Amarok under Gnome.. any ideas on how to stop this appf rom showing up on the taskbar? What does it even do? |

I have this problem too, and would be happy to get rid of it. Obviously it's not a deal breaking problem, but it is annoying to have it popping up all the time. The only other thing I've found on it is here, and nobody seems to have a solution. Should we file this as a bug?

It's actually not a problem with Amarok, but the kdelibs kio stuff, which likes to do crazy stuff out of kde.
maybe this helps http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=63119 |

Oh cool, it looks like someone has figured out a solution since I linked that thread last week. I just downloaded kcontrol and disabled the cache, so hopefully that will solve the problem.
