I am having problems getting Amarok (1.4.1-r3) to build my playlist on my Gentoo box. I have roughly 200 odd GB of files. When I tell Amarok to scan and build my collection it seems to start building the collection (according to status bar and HD light) but then hours and hours later it reaches about 42% and then just sits there and according to top it is still cranking away at something. I have tried on earlier versions but they all do the same thing. I tried adding directories a few at a time which seemed to work okay but the more I looked into each directories playlist entry it didn't pick up all the songs in there.
What is the best way to build your collection if it is fairly large? Thanks, Nick |

Okay so I think I got it to grab my whole collection by dividing it up into smaller chunks than before but on the last chunk it just sits there at 99% completed. Any thoughts?

It could be a taglib bug. Check the ~.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.log file to see wich file is making trouble. You could remove it (or copy to another directory) and try again.
