Collection List - Double Entries

All the album tracks are reported twice in the collection. If I use the remove duplicates & dead entries menu pick, will this just remove the names out of the database or will it remove the files as well?

Neither. It only operates on the current playlist, not on the collection. Hence it's in the Playlist menu

Is there a way in which I can remove the double entries then?

Wow, wasn't this a *really* old (like 1.3.x) bug?
Try upgrading to Amarok 1.4.1 or better if you haven't already.

I'm using Amarok 1.4.2-beta. I have closed it down, manually dropped the database, re-created the database then started Amarok up again and rebuilt the collection. This has worked fine but I've lost all my ratings, scores, etc.
