Amarok Database cuts out some filenames so they become pointless

Hello for a while I have been having this problem

Some filenames get cut out.

Instead of blah - blah - blah - song.mp3 it becomes 'blah - blah - blah - so" and so it can't play or anything.

I checked out and in the mysql db it is like that too

So here are screenshots, it happens on lots of files and there is nothing in common I found within them. Making file names shorter fixes that, but I want to know why it happens more then renaming lots of files.

Very grateful for any help.

Also all my stuff is in unicode

I am using amarok from cvs, and had this issue for ever with 1.4.* too

IIRC paths are currently limited to 256 characters in the database. Anything longer than that will probably become truncated.

Thanks!! I never knew that, that would explain it.

Is there a way to change that at all?

I've noticed the same issue on a few files. I'm running Amarok 1.4.4 with MySQL as my database. Is there any way I can manually change something in the database to allow for paths greater than 256 characters?

In 1.4.4, you can switch to a different database backend - sqlite and postgresql support filenames of arbitrary length, only mysql has the 255 character limit.
