Hello all,
I'm a bit of a linux noob so hopefully you guys and gals can help me out ![]() First off, I'm running Kubuntu 6.06 and Amarok 1.3.9. Amarok was running fine for the past month but yesterday it started causing problems for me. Whenever I would run Amarok, my Xorg process would spike to ~100% CPU usage causing my computer to go very slow. Xorg would only go to 100% when the Amarok window was actually open, if I minimized Amarok so it was in the "system tray" then Xorg would go back to its normal 1-5% and everything would be fine. I have tried using Amarok versions 1.3.9 as well as the newest 1.4.2 and both have this same problem. I have not found any other application that causes this problem. All of my music is stored on a windows server and im using samba over the network to mount my music drive, however I don't believe that is the problem. If i go into ~/.kde/share/amarok and remove the music database files so Amarok has to rebuild the collection it rebuilds fine and after rebuilding the collection the CPU goes to 100% usage from Xorg. I saw another post (http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/t ... 230.0.html) that looks like the same problem but a solution was never posted (Unless it was that the person switched from Fluxbox to KDE). If anyone could give me some advice or a solution that would be great ![]() Thanks for the help, Mike Edit: Oh yea I am using the xine engine for Amarok |

probably looks like you fiddled with the database setting of the music collection...I once changed my databse from Sqlite to Mysql and faced a similar kind of problem ...so just give it a try

Hey thanks for the reply,
Unfortunately i havent played around with the database settings at all, I just tried changing from sqlite to mysql but amarok still caused Xorg to use 100% cpu cycles. Thanks though! |
