I just upgraded from amaroK 1.4.1 to 1.4.2 using the fedora core 5 rpms. When I started amaroK it came up with this error:
The xine engine was working perfectly before this change. What could be wrong with it now?

You have to install the xine engine for your current version.

There doesn't seem to be a new xine-engine for Amarok. I have all the newest xine and xine-lib packages installed.
There is no amarok-xine package for Fedora.

Are you on 64-bit Fedora?

I'm running the following:
kernel.i686 2.6.17-1.2174_FC5 xine.i386 0.99.4-7.lvn5 xine-lib.i386 1.1.2-4.lvn5 xine-lib-devel.i386 1.1.2-4.lvn5 amarok.i386 1.4.2-1.fc5 amarok-extras-nonfree.i386 1.4.2-1.lvn5 mysql.i386 5.0.22-1.FC5.1 mysql-devel.i386 5.0.22-1.FC5.1 mysql-server.i386 5.0.22-1.FC5.1 Up until this post, amarok-nonfree-extras was at 1.4.1, but the update to 1.4.2 didn't fix the problem. I've tried completely removing amarok (including amarokrc, and ~/kde/share/apss/amarok/) and reinstalling it, and it didn't work. Would there be something wrong with my version of xine?

Same rpm's. Same problem.
Deleting /home/xxxx/.kde/share/apps/amarok/xine-config does not help. I even compiled amarok with xine support. It didn't help. There is only the 'Helix Engine' on the available options in the configuration window. No selectable "Xine Engine". |

ok, so it's working now.
All I had to to was restart my x-server. Maybe amarok wasn't cleaning itself properly. As for the difference between the xine-lib repos, the livna rpms support mp3. I'm sorta **** that it was so simple after I'd reinstalled it about 10 times.
