I'm just after installing a new large SATA drive into my Ubuntu box for all my media files, created a new audio folder and tried to move my collection to it. Ideally I'd like to preserve all my scores and play stats during the move. I activated the Move script in the script manager, but there doesn't seem to be any new context menu entries to use it. Where am I supposed to find that?
I tried right-clicking artist names in the Collection tab and selected Manage Files > Organise x files. This moved the files and created the directory structure correctly, but then they disappeared completely from the collection in Amarok (the new folder is selected in the collection setup). Cover art which I store in the album folders is left behind as well. Then I tried to manually move the artist/album folders to the new location, but Amarok doesn't pick up on them once they are moved. Is there something that I am missing? I'm using v1.4.2. |

Not sure what this move script is that you enabled - it's certainly not a bundled amarok script.
Someone else, however, has reported a similar problem with using the 'organize files' dialogue to move tracks to a removable device. Try 1.4.3, and if problems persist, you should post a bug report on http://bugs.kde.org with as much detail as possible.

Sorry, forgot to mention about the Move script. I downloaded it through the Script Manager.
Anyway... I played around with it a bit more and after I created and added a third folder in my Home partition for Amarok to watch, it started to suddenly recognise the folder on my SATA drive as well. Now it lets me move the files without losing any of my stats. Odd. But it still leaves the album art behind in the old folders, which is a pain. Is there a way to move them automatically as well as I don't want to have to move them manually (700+ albums)? |
