i allready posted this on the ubuntu forums but it seams noone could help
i recently installed kubuntu (my firs real atempt to run a linux based system at home) and im quite impressed with the features the kde audio player amarok has to offer, there is a major annoyance however: i have 3 soundcards installed (2 real soundcards and a tv card thats recognized as a soundcard), and besides the "xine engine cant load audio drivers" thingy that i have so solve about once a week by deleting xine.config there is also another problem: the soundcard adress seams to change randomly every reboote (i use alsa, but it was the same for oss when i tried) so sometimes plughw:2,0 for example is soundcard A, but sometimes its the tv card or soundcard B is there any way to solve this? seams not only to be an amarok problem though, also affects other applications sorry forgot something: im using kubuntu 6.06 alsa-base 10.0.10-4 amarok 1.4.3 (though i also had this problem with 1.3.9 and 1.4.2) KDE 3.5.4 (had problem also with 3.5.2 with aRts disabled, though i also had the problem when enabled) xine version 1 framework version 26 i also tried assigning names to the devices in the alsa config files, but the soundcards still keep chaning adress |
