1.4.3 from Debian packages. I've got a bunch of m4a files that the collection scanner is missing the genre and sometimes some of the other tags for. They're all m4a files that I've tagged with The Godfather. Is there anyway to figure out why this is happening?

1.4.3 has the same issue, at least it does in my case.
