Amarok won't start

Thu Sep 21, 2006 2:03 pm
Amarok won't start; it displays the splash screen and then goes dead.

It was working fine and I don't know why it won't start now;
I have since upgraded to 1.4.3 (from 1.4.0) but it has  made  no difference.

Amarokapp crashes almost immediatlely reporting:

NOTICE:  CREATE TABLE / UNIQUE will create implicit index "statistics_url_key" for table "statistics"

Program exited with code 01.

NB I have another installation on another PC which is still working fine.

all help appreciated.

I am also facing the same problem. I have just updated Amarok to 1.4.3 using "yum update amarok" on Fedora Core 5. After update, whenever I open the application it vanishes after the splash screen. Before update it was working fine.

On command prompt the error message is:

Amarok: [Loader] Starting amarokapp..
Amarok: [Loader] Don't run gdb, valgrind, etc. against this binary! Use amarokapp.
amarokapp: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libamarok.so.0: undefined symbol: _ZN9KLineEdit13focusOutEventEP11QFocusEvent

Please Help!

That's not the same problem at all. In your case, your Amarok package was built for a different KDE version. Basically, this is a packaging or package manager bug, as the package manager should resolve such incompabilities and upgrade the KDE version if required.

What you can do is, upgrade KDE to the needed version. You should ask your distribution for support on how to do this, and also point out to them that there is a problem with the packaging.

I have solved the problem of amarok 1.4.3 crash.

Solution is that you must have KDE 3.5.4.0.3 installed. Theose error messages was appearing on earlier version of KDE. I upgraded KDE via yum and now again started using amarok with success

Thanks
