DAAP music sharing from iTunes doesn't work -- but does from mt-daapd

Hi,

having a problem here with streaming shared music from a computer running iTunes (Windows XP and 2000, FWIW). Using Amarok 1.4.3-r1 with the Xine engine (xine-lib 1.1.2-r2) on Gentoo Linux.

Zeroconf works fine and detects all shared music correctly. Playing that shared music, however, doesn't work. Playback fails with the following error messages:

Error Loading Media

No suitable input plugin. This often means that the url's protocol is not supported. Network failures are other possible causes.
http://localhost:44254/daap.mp3

N.B.: the port number (here 44254) changes with every mp3 file I try to play.

Hidden under that message window is another one:
The connection was refused for the URL:

xine parameters: http status not 2xx:

That's it, unfortunately.

Now, on the other hand, DAAP-sharing some music from an mt-daapd server seems to work fine. I've started one on my local machine, the shared music is detected automatically (Zeroconf again) and playback works fine.

So, listening to (Windows) iTunes-shared music doesn't work, while listening to music on an mt-daapd server works fine.

Has anybody experienced anything similar or can explain to me what is wrong here? I have no Mac OS X machine around at the moment nor any other DAAP-capable music player so testing various combinations of pieces is difficult.

Any help would be appreciated.
