Ipod 80gb/ 5.5gen

Thu Sep 28, 2006 5:45 pm
I'm not sure if this is related to the new Ipod (Firmware 1.2) or not but after I transfer songs, they show up on the ipod but will not play. When I use itunes to tranfer the same song on another computer it works perfectly. After repairing the files they end up it 2 seperate groups (1 song).  The issue still persists after an attempted repair. Any suggestions/help welcomed.

Could you try upgrading libgpod to version 0.4.0 and recompiling Amarok after this?

In this case, could you please check if gtkpod has the same problems. And if this is the case, then please report the problem to gtkpod-devel@lists.sourceforge.net. Both programs internally use the same library for accessing the ipod.

i did a little more searching and came upon this
http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/amarok/20 ... 01403.html
so it must be working, i will do some more config with gtkpod later tomorrow as the computer and ipod are not with me

The toughest problem with all of this is not knowing what to search for...ex:ipod 5.5gen, ipod 80gb, etc

Update: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.ipod.gtkpod/1379
apparently deleting the iPod_Control/Device/SysInfo fixes the issue but does not allow transfer of anything but music
Will update tomorrow around 3pm to find out if that actually works

Success:
Well turns out I made a stupid mistake and did not compile with libgpod support the second time around.
The 80gb works fine now.

Maybe you have the same problem as me with amarok since we both have the same models. Does amarok rename the files on your ipod so that artists such as The Fall, who used to be located under F now appear under T. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but 90 percent of the stuff I listen to starts with The.
