Wed Oct 04, 2006 11:04 pm
Hi
i get this error everytime i start amarok: xine cannot initialize audio drivers
I tried everthing they said in the the other topic related to the error, yet none of them worked. I really like amarok and would like to use it more.
I am using a 500mhz computer with aLinux(Peanut) 12.8.
thanks for helping me!

I still can't use the xine engine in amarok. All my other xine apps work fine. Can someone help me, please?
Thanks

Are you sure that no other app is blocking the sound device (e.g. flash in your browser, arts, realplayer, ...). Are you using the same sound output (e.g. arts, alsa, oss) in amarok as for your standalone xine?

How does this look? You cannot choose any xine output plugin?
Because even if I block my sound device here, I can choose the output plugin between alsa and oss (and autodetect).

I can chose the xine output plugin. When I press "apply" it says cannot initialize audio drivers. I just can't where it says alsa or oss. there is nothing in that menu.
hope this helps!

I upgraded ot 1.44 but stilll no luck. Xine just won't work. I'm trying to use nmm but i can't compile that.
helix doesn't play all of my mp3s so i'm really hoping to get an engine that does.

Thanks

Can you start amarok from a console and have a look at the output there? Maybe there's something useful.
